Utility Cost Calc

Privacy

The short version: the numbers you type into the calculator stay in your browser. We keep a small anonymous record of page events and the correction reports people choose to send. Effective October 5, 2026.

Your calculator inputs

The estimate is computed by JavaScript on your device. Your kWh, rates, gallons and bills are not sent to our server. When you press Share, your inputs are written into the part of the link after “#”, which browsers do not send to web servers; whoever you send the link to can see them, so share it only with people you choose.

Anonymous page events

Our own server (not a third-party analytics company) records events such as “page viewed”, “calculator used”, “state selected” or “link shared”. Each record holds: the page path (never the part after ? or #), the event name, the two-letter state code chosen where relevant, a random identifier created for that single page load and never stored on your device, the referring website’s host name only, your country as reported by our hosting provider, and whether the screen is phone-sized. We do not store your IP address, your browser’s user-agent string, cookies or any identifier that persists between visits, and we never record the values you type. Automated traffic is filtered out.

Correction reports

If you use the contact form, we store the page it concerns, the kind of issue, your message and — only if you provide one — a reply address. We use the reply address only to answer that report. We do not store your IP address or browser details with it.

Cookies and storage

This site sets no cookies and loads nothing from other companies: no ads, no tracking pixels, no external fonts or scripts.

Hosting and retention

The site runs on Cloudflare, which processes requests to deliver the pages and protect the service under its own privacy terms. Event and correction records are kept in a database operated by the publisher and are used only to improve this site; we do not sell or share them.

Contact

Questions or deletion requests about a correction you sent: use the contact form and choose “Other”. This policy is maintained by the Utility Cost Calc Editorial Team.
